Welcome to the official blog of the Organization of Women with Disabilities for Health and Development (OWDHD). We are a Rwanda-based organization committed to advancing the health, rights, and socio-economic development of women and girls living with disabilities across the country.
Who We Are
OWDHD was founded on a simple but powerful belief: women with disabilities have the right to live healthy, dignified, and self-determined lives. For too long, women and girls with disabilities in Rwanda have faced overlapping barriers — in healthcare, education, employment, and full participation in their communities. We exist to break down those barriers and to ensure that no woman is left behind.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower women and girls with disabilities in Rwanda by improving their access to inclusive health services, defending their rights, and creating sustainable opportunities for economic and social development.
What We Do
- Inclusive Health: Promoting access to sexual and reproductive health, maternal care, and disability-friendly health services.
- Advocacy & Rights: Championing the rights of women with disabilities and raising awareness to fight stigma and discrimination.
- Economic Empowerment: Supporting skills training, entrepreneurship, and income-generating activities for greater independence.
- Education & Awareness: Sharing knowledge with communities, families, and partners to build a more inclusive Rwanda.
